What is the number one thing that most Christians know NOT to EVER pray for? If you’ve prayed for it, you know what it is. For those that haven’t, let me enlighten you.
It’s pray for PATIENCE!! Am I right, or am I right? I feel like it’s the one prayer request that God has an automatic reply email built in that says “okay, you asked for it, here come the hardest days of your life.”
Not signing up for that.
Not praying for that, ever again.
You only have to do it once to know you never want to pray that prayer again. Even if it’s someone in a group praying for all of us that says “God, help us to be patient.” I immediately freak out. I peek around at everyone in the group trying to figure out how to handle the situation. Do I audibly say “nope, not me, no patience for me God” or do I just speak it to God in my brain? Do I immediately ask the person saying the prayer “what were you thinking?” ABSOLUTELY I do. Clearly they haven’t prayed that prayer before, but God is about to show them!
I feel like I should point out to God that by posting this, I am not asking for patience. Please don’t teach me how to be more patient – I’m good with the amount of patience I have currently, which I know is not a lot and I am at peace with that. PEACE!
Anybody out there ever prayed for more patience and immediately regretted it? Share your story – I can’t wait to hear it, but I will be patient.
